The Maritime Association of Nigeria (MARAN) is set to address the ongoing debates about the International Cargo Tracking Note (ICTN) at a roundtable discussion on February 27.

MARAN President, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere, announced that the event will bring together key industry players to discuss the controversies and find lasting solutions.

“The roundtable will bring together relevant players in the industry under one roof at the MARAN International Press Center in Apapa,” Bivbere stated.

Among the expected attendees are Dr. Eugene Nweke of the Sea Empowerment and Research Center, Dr. Segun Musa of Widescope Group, Dr. Alban Igwe of the Importers Association of Nigeria, and representatives from the Shippers’ Association Lagos State (SALS).

Also present will be two government agencies, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council and the Nigeria Ports Authority.

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council will discuss the “Prospects and Challenges of Proposed ICTN: NSC’s Perspective,” while the Nigeria Ports Authority will provide insights on the same topic from their perspective.

Bivbere emphasized the need for this roundtable due to the polarizing nature of the ICTN debate. “There has been widespread controversy, with proponents and opponents each justifying their position. MARAN aims to settle the matter and advance the sector, which is critical to Nigeria’s economy,” he explained.
