Victor Osimhen scored as Galatasaray triumphed to secure their 25th Turkish Super Lig title on Sunday, leaving Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in second place for a fourth consecutive season.
The reigning Turkish champions cruised to a 3-0 victory over Kayserispor, with Osimhen netting the opening goal. With just two rounds of matches left in the season, Galatasaray have an eight-point lead over Fenerbahce.
A late penalty from goalkeeper Fernando Muslera sealed the win for Galatasaray, who have led the league standings since the third game of the season. The club’s impressive campaign has also earned them a spot in the Champions League group stage.
Osimhen, who joined on loan from Napoli in September, has been instrumental in their success, scoring 25 goals to help propel Galatasaray to the title.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce’s failure to secure silverware could prompt Mourinho to depart a year before his contract ends, according to local reports. The team’s 11-year wait for a championship continues, with their season undone by a winless record in the four Istanbul derbies against their rivals.
