President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on the Super Falcons in recognition of their historic victory at the 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
In a special ceremony at the Presidential Villa on Monday, Tinubu celebrated the team’s achievement and announced a cash reward of $100,000 (in naira) for each of the 24 players. He also revealed that the victorious players would receive three-bedroom apartments, while the technical team would be awarded $50,000 (in naira) each.
Tinubu expressed his gratitude, saying, “On behalf of the entire nation, I thank you for your passion and dedication. You’ve proven once again that the Nigerian spirit is unbreakable.”
Additionally, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, made a generous donation of ₦10 million each to both the players and the technical staff on behalf of the Forum.
