Scores Feared Dead as Suspected Bomb Blast Tears Through Kwara Community
Panic has gripped residents of Woro in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a fresh explosion that has reportedly left several people feared dead.
The blast, believed to have been caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), occurred on Monday, though details about casualties and the extent of damage remain unclear.
No group has taken responsibility, but locals have linked the incident to suspected activities of Boko Haram.
The latest development comes barely weeks after a deadly assault on Woro and nearby Nuku communities, where dozens of residents were killed and homes destroyed by suspected insurgents.
In response to that attack, Bola Tinubu approved the deployment of military personnel to reinforce security in the area.
As of the time of reporting, authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident. Attempts to reach the Kwara State Police spokesperson, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, were unsuccessful.
Residents remain on edge as uncertainty surrounds the cause of the explosion and the fate of those affected.
