South Africa has deported 208 foreigners in a two-day operation targeting illegal immigrants in Limpopo province. The majority of those deported are Zimbabwean nationals.
This crackdown is part of the government’s broader efforts to address illegal immigration amid concerns that foreign nationals are taking away job opportunities from locals by working for lower wages.
The move has sparked a debate on the effectiveness of such measures in solving the job rivalry between South African citizens and undocumented immigrants.
Critics argue that deportation alone may not address the underlying economic issues and suggest a need for comprehensive immigration reform and job creation strategies.
