Tinubu Celebrates Soludo’s Landslide Victory, Calls It a Triumph of Vision and Leadership
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on his re-election as Governor of Anambra State, describing the victory as a reflection of the people’s confidence in his leadership and achievements.
According to results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), won by a landslide, sweeping all 21 local government areas of the state.
He becomes the third governor in Anambra’s history to secure a second term in office.
In a statement personally signed by him, President Tinubu praised Soludo’s administration for its “discipline, brilliance, and innovative governance,” noting that the governor has successfully applied intellectual and practical solutions to leadership.
“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has shown that knowledge is indeed power, and that sound academic principles can drive effective governance rooted in accountability, transparency, and prudent management,” the President stated.
Tinubu recalled his visit to Anambra in May, where he inaugurated several projects executed by the Soludo administration.
He described the experience as “remarkable,” commending Soludo for upholding Anambra’s identity as the Light of the Nation.
The President urged Soludo to be magnanimous in victory and to seek unity among all political stakeholders in the state. He also assured the governor of the Federal Government’s continued partnership to enhance development efforts in Anambra.
“The victory of APGA underscores the strength of Nigeria’s democracy, proving that any hardworking and visionary leader can triumph, regardless of party affiliation,” Tinubu said.
The President also commended INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting what he described as a credible election, urging them to sustain and improve the commission’s performance.
Announcing the results in Awka, the INEC Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Omoregie Edoba, declared Soludo the winner with 422,664 votes, defeating Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, who polled 99,445 votes.
Other candidates trailed behind — Paul Chukwuma (YPP) with 37,753 votes, George Moghalu (Labour Party) with 10,576 votes, John Nwosu (ADC) with 8,208 votes, and Jude Ezenwafor (PDP) with 1,401 votes.
Professor Soludo’s victory has drawn widespread congratulatory messages, with many political figures and parties acknowledging his decisive win and contributions to Anambra’s development.
