President Kais Saied has appointed Najla Boudena as the country’s new Prime Minister after months of running the government without a parliament nor necessary appointees in civil service.
Mr Saied who became Tunisia’s almost all power in his own right after sacking the previous PM and illegally suspended parliament, has been under growing internal pressure with mounting calls for him to either form a new government or resign.
Bouden, a geologist has become the North African nation’s first female PM and has been tasked to swiftly form a government.
There is optimism that the PM appointment will soon mark the end of President Saied’s one-man rule which was by decree.
