Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar not to seek a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria should his new political ventures fail.
Olayinka’s warning followed Atiku’s resignation from the PDP, a move he attributed to irreconcilable differences within the party. Atiku also claimed that the current leadership of the PDP had deviated from the party’s founding principles.
In an appearance on Sunrise Daily on Channels Television, Olayinka suggested that Atiku’s departure had left a lasting impact on the party. He added that while passionate members of the PDP would work to restore the party, Atiku should not be allowed back in if his new political path does not succeed.
“Atiku Abubakar has left the PDP in a damaged state. Now that he’s gone, as committed members of the party come together to rebuild, he should not return if he fails in his new political journey. I’m confident he will fail,” Olayinka declared.
