NWSC Jinja Area Holds General Staff Meeting

Jinja, 4th September 2025  The Jinja Area held a General Staff Meeting at the main offices, chaired by the Union Chairman, Ssalongo Ssali. He officially welcomed staff, introduced guests, and recognized Jinja Area Management for their continued leadership and support.

The meeting was graced by service providers including Jubilee Insurance, Eco Bank, and Spiro Electric Motorcycle Company, who showcased their services and products to staff.

Key Technical Updates,

Principal Engineer Gutti Norbert addressed the gathering, providing updates on ongoing projects and improvements in water supply, with particular focus on the Njeru Branch Area. He highlighted progress achieved but also noted the challenge of Non-Revenue Water (NRW) stagnation at 17%, urging collective effort to bring it down to the 14% target.

Human Resource Briefing.

The Manager Human Resources (MHR) Jean Claude delivered a comprehensive briefing on staff discipline, performance, and welfare.

He cautioned against indiscipline and encouraged staff to maintain professionalism and teamwork.

He expressed concern over last month’s underperformance, calling on staff to embrace smart working strategies to meet the newly set performance targets.

The MHR shared positive news on new staff recruitments and the promotion of temporary staff from Scale X to Scale 8.

Staff warmly welcomed the introduction of an additional UGX 10,000 weekend allowance.

On logistics, the MHR guided staff on acquiring fuel cards, riding permits, and protective wear.

He further reminded staff about the upcoming performance appraisals at the start of next month.

General Manager’s Address,

The General Manager (GM) closed the meeting, appreciating the dedication of staff and outlining upcoming projects within Jinja Area. He emphasized adjustments in billing systems and other operational parameters, aligning them with the new performance targets for September 2025.

The meeting successfully strengthened communication between management and staff, while also setting a renewed focus on discipline, performance, and staff welfare.
