Tanzanian authorities have postponed the trial for the opposition leader, Freeman Mbowe, to next week, his party, Chadema, confirmed.
Local media say the case was moved to Friday to allow the Director of Public Prosecutions to allocate it to the higher court.
His party shared a video on Twitter showing Mr Mbowe and three of his co-accused being driven back into remand custody shortly after appearing before a court in the capital, Dar es Salaam.
The Chadema politicians are accused of terrorism-related crimes, which are unbailable according to the country’s laws.
