Kremlin Says Easter Ceasefire With Ukraine Is Meant to Support Peace
The Kremlin has said that Russia’s planned Easter ceasefire with Ukraine is a humanitarian move aimed at promoting peace.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained that Russia wants peace and hopes for a long-lasting solution to the conflict. He said peace could happen immediately if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agrees to the right terms.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the temporary ceasefire on Thursday in honor of Easter. The ceasefire will begin at 4:00 p.m. on April 11 and end at the close of April 12, 2026.
During that time, Putin has ordered Russia’s military leaders to stop all fighting on every front.
Russian officials say the pause in fighting is meant to show goodwill during the Easter period and create room for peace efforts.
