A controversial Kenyan Member of Parliament was suspended from parliament on Wednesday for contravening the house’s code of conduct through distributing sweets to colleagus during a hot debate.
Explaining her actions, Fatuma Gedi said the “sugar levels of members had gone down” after the day-long session, BBC.
Ms Gedi’s conduct attracted a one suspension as house rules forbid the distribution of foodstuff in parliament.
This came up at the time when MPs were on debating to amend the law on political parties ahead of this year’s general elections.
