The #EndBadGovernance movement has gained significant momentum as a one-million-man protest unfolded in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on Saturday. This demonstration, which began on August 1, is a response to the escalating cost of living and dissatisfaction with government policies. Protesters, determined to make their voices heard, took to the streets in the early hours, holding placards with various inscriptions and chanting, “We are hungry.”
The protest is part of a broader campaign that aimed to mobilize protests across all 36 states and the nation’s capital, with today’s event marking the grand finale of what has been dubbed the “hunger protest.” Organizers had previously announced their intent to stage these large-scale protests to draw attention to the severe hardships faced by many Nigerians.
The atmosphere in Abuja was charged with emotion as thousands of demonstrators marched in solidarity, demanding urgent government intervention to address the worsening economic conditions. The protest, which has garnered widespread attention, reflects the growing frustration among citizens who are struggling to cope with the rising costs of basic necessities.
