Nigeria Media Personality Toke Makinwa, at 40, Announces First Pregnancy: The Biggest Project of My Life

Nigerian media personality and businesswoman Toke Makinwa has announced she is expecting her first child at the age of 40.

Makinwa shared the news on Instagram, posting a video that revealed her baby bump. In an emotional caption, she called the pregnancy “the biggest project of my life” and described it as a deeply personal and long-awaited milestone.

She spoke about the years of waiting, sharing that although the delay came with uncertainty, it ultimately prepared her for this next chapter. Makinwa, who has been candid in the past about her desire for motherhood and openness to surrogacy, called the moment a testimony of faith and timing.

Her post quickly drew widespread attention, receiving over 350,000 likes and tens of thousands of comments. Celebrities including Funke Akindele, Simi, Toyin Abraham, Timini Egbuson, and Hilda Baci were among those who congratulated her.

In her message, Makinwa expressed deep gratitude and anticipation, addressing her unborn child directly and describing the experience as her greatest joy yet.

She added that, despite a successful career spanning media, fashion, and entrepreneurship, becoming a mother is the most meaningful role she’s ever taken on.

Toke Makinwa was previously married to Maje Ayida. The couple parted ways in 2017.
