Pastor Adewale Giwa of the Awaiting The Second Coming of Christ Ministry has controversially claimed that Nigerians are suffering under President Bola Tinubu’s administration due to the actions of Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate. According to Giwa, Obi’s participation in the election played a “spoiler” role, knowing he couldn’t defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an interview, Giwa emphasized, “Peter Obi knew he couldn’t have defeated the ruling party in the 2023 presidential election. He is the reason Nigerians are suffering under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.” He further explained that no single opposition party can successfully challenge a ruling party in Nigeria, drawing comparisons to how multiple parties had to align in 2015 to defeat former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Giwa also criticized Nigeria’s convoluted electoral system, stating that it allows unexpected candidates to rise to power, often resulting in selfish leadership that neglects the country’s real challenges. “These politicians are selfish and not ready to address challenges facing Nigeria,” Giwa asserted.
