
In a proactive initiative to assess and strengthen water supply infrastructure in key industrial zones, a technical team from the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) headquarters in Kampala, together with representatives from the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) One Stop Centre, undertook a field visit to the industrial parks located in Buikwe and Jinja Districts;(Kiira Motors,Yaobai int Cement,Modern Agrichem Limited etc).
The visit aimed to establish the current water supply status, identify service gaps, and explore potential for future expansion in response to the increasing industrial demand in the region. The NWSC Kampala delegation comprised Principal Engineer Mbeiza Sarah and Principal Engineer Julius Kato.
Upon arrival, the team was received and welcomed by Principal Engineer Nobert Gutti of NWSC Jinja Area, Technical Supervisor Muhumuza George, and Njeru Branch Manager Wobbaka Job. The field inspection included extensive on-site assessments of water infrastructure, current service delivery levels, and future projections for water demand in the growing industrial parks.

Following the field engagements, the delegation convened at the NWSC Jinja Area main office for a strategic discussion with Engineer Badru Wadwasi, the General Manager for Jinja. The meeting focused on key findings from the site visits, current operational challenges, and emerging opportunities to enhance water supply to industrial clients. The discussions also emphasized the potential for increased water sales and the expansion of services to meet anticipated industrial growth.
In conclusion, the technical team from Kampala reaffirmed NWSC’s commitment to supporting Uganda’s industrialization agenda through improved water infrastructure. They also pledged to continue engaging with all relevant stakeholders, including regional teams and governing boards, to ensure effective implementation and optimal outcomes from the planned interventions.
This visit reflects NWSC’s broader mission to deliver sustainable and efficient water services that support economic development and industrial transformation across the country.
