Oil Prices Drop as Trump Delays Planned Iran Strike
Global oil prices recorded a sharp decline on Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a planned military strike against Iran had been suspended, reducing fears of an immediate disruption to global crude supplies.

The announcement came after days of rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, with concerns that any military action could affect oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest shipping routes. Trump said the pause was aimed at giving diplomacy a chance, allowing more time for negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme and efforts to restore normal shipping activities in the region.

Following the news, Brent crude fell by more than 6% to $82.41 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped to $79.40 per barrel. The market reacted positively to the easing of geopolitical tensions, with traders viewing the decision as a sign that an immediate conflict may be avoided, at least for now.
