Peter Obi’s Stand on Nnamdi Kanu Reignites Old Political Debate
Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has restated his belief that dialogue remains the best route to resolving the case involving Nnamdi Kanu.
He said a future administration under his leadership would focus on engagement and consultation as tools for addressing national tensions, especially issues linked to separatist agitation and regional discontent.
Obi argued that lasting stability can only be achieved by confronting the root causes of unrest through inclusive governance, justice, and structured dialogue, rather than force alone.
He also emphasized that unity must be built through reconciliation and mutual understanding, while still maintaining law, order, and respect for democratic institutions.
His comments have once again stirred public conversation around the handling of the Kanu case, reopening the wider debate over whether political solutions could complement legal approaches in resolving long-standing tensions in the South-East.
