Liverpool’s 16-year-old sensation, Rio Ngumoha, delivered a memorable moment on Monday night by scoring the match-winning goal in their thrilling 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
The teenager, who made the switch from Chelsea to Liverpool last summer, struck late to secure all three points for his side. Liverpool had established a 2-0 lead through Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike, but Newcastle fought back with goals from Bruno Guimarães and William Osula, leveling the score.
With the match appearing set for a draw, Mohamed Salah’s well-timed low cross found Ngumoha in the box, who kept his cool and slotted the ball home to give Liverpool a dramatic victory.
At just 16 years and 361 days old, Ngumoha became the youngest player in Liverpool’s history to score a match-winning goal in the Premier League.
His goal also catapulted him into the record books as the fourth youngest scorer in Premier League history, joining an elite group that includes James Vaughan, James Milner, and Wayne Rooney.
The exciting young forward has already sparked plenty of excitement among fans, who are eager to see how he develops under the guidance of new manager Arne Slot.
