Modesty is a virtue necessary for purity. It flows out of the virtues of temperance, chastity, and self-control. A modest person dresses, speaks, and acts in a manner that supports and encourages purity and chastity, and not in a manner that would tempt or encourage sinful sexual behavior. Modesty protects the mystery of the person in order to avoid exploiting the other.
This attitude instills in us the patience and reserve we need to avoid unbecoming behavior. Modest relationships reflect the connection between the marital state and sexual behavior. Modest behavior respects the boundaries of intimacy that are imbedded in our natures by the natural law and the principles of sexual behavior laid out in Divine Revelation. Modesty ensures and supports purity of heart, a gift that enables us to see God’s plan for personal relationships, sexuality, and marriage.
Sex has become the main and major issue of this generation, everything has been centered on sex , that women no longer have, nor practice modesty for their own well being.
Showing the practice of modesty doesn’t make you less a woman.
I ,for one, love being covered up with enough clothing leaving those who desire to die wondering what I look like , rather than putting everything out there for everything or everyman to see just to be desired.
I would rather be a virtuous woman, than a desired woman, just for pleasure or satisfaction of a mere man.
Modesty safe guards women’s appeal to the world out there , people and churches have looked at immodesty as a way that has accused women of causing men to sin, looking further at the concept of why modesty is taught to women is to install values to safe keep our bodies.
Modesty is difficult to maintain in a culture that prizes sexual permissiveness. Countless appeals for erotic satisfaction daily. This environment challenges all men and women of faith to choose and to witness to modesty as a way of life and as a method for healing a culture that has strayed from God’s plan for sexuality and marriage.
In this generation, we have more naked women out there and social media has contributed hugely to this , women now believe a man can’t commit unless I show some skin. The question is where does modesty lie in this generation?
Where will respect come from, if women have no respect for their own bodies?
If you turn on the television, go to the mall, or look at billboards as you drive down the highway, then you know our country has a serious problem with the way we dress. We live in a world that is very confused about how we should clothe ourselves. Sexual provocation is the order of the day, and the dress issue has become so problematic that it has reached the point where people are not even embarrassed about showing off their bodies. In fact, it is encouraged.
We live in a world like that. Our people have lost the ability to blush over the exposure of their bodies. I would like to find out what kind of fruit Adam and Eve ate that made them realize they were naked, because I’d like to pass it around again. Many people need to have their eyes opened to what is appropriate and what is inappropriate. The world today is very confused with regard to how we ought to dress, but a Christian is not like the world.
A woman is the opening to all routes of life, so how we present ourselves speaks more volumes of whom we are.
A woman is supposed to be a virtuous person. Practicing virtues makes you a cup of glory and our entire being needs to speak it .
Many women want long term relationships that will lead to marriage but present themselves as simply a piece of clothing a man should only pick for sex and nothing more. I’m not judging anyone.
But if you wanna be taken serious by a man, start presenting yourself as that which you want to be at the end of the day.
I know the temptation of just wanting to show some skin is there, but be mindful of how you show it to them.
Cover up everything and let he who is worth it unveil what was hidden.
Practicing modesty gives us women a better understanding of why we should stay covered up. For her respect is in the way she portrays herself to the world .
