Tearful Erika Kirk Shocks Crowd: I Forgive Charlie’s Killer
At an emotional memorial in Glendale, Arizona, Erika Kirk stunned a crowd of nearly 100,000 when she publicly forgave the man accused of murdering her husband, conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Through tears at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, Erika said: “I forgive him because it was what Christ did. And it is what Charlie would do.”
The audience—which included former President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Elon Musk—fell silent as she urged mourners to reject hate and embrace love, calling her husband’s death a spark for “revival” rather than revenge.
Kirk, 31, was shot dead earlier this month while addressing students at Utah Valley University. He was buried in a private ceremony on Saturday.
Dressed in white, his widow told the gathering she was living through “a heartache I never knew existed,” but vowed to carry on his mission. On Monday, she was confirmed as the new CEO of Turning Point USA, the organisation her husband founded.
Trump described Kirk as a “martyr” for free speech and faith, while Musk called him “a man of peace who was killed because his voice made a difference.”
Thousands of mourners travelled from across the country, some queuing for hours with patriotic T-shirts and placards reading: “Here I am Lord, send me.”
The alleged gunman, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, is in custody facing an aggravated murder charge that could carry the death penalty.
