If You Can Track Civilians, You Can Track Bandits — Buratai Blasts Security Agencies
Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has questioned the repeated claims by security agencies that armed bandits cannot be located.
He argued that the same intelligence systems used to track ordinary citizens and social media influencers should be capable of identifying criminal hideouts.
Speaking on TVC, Buratai reacted to growing public anger over the boldness of armed groups who allegedly flaunt ransom money and criminal exploits online without being arrested.
He said it was difficult to accept the narrative that such groups are untraceable, insisting that existing surveillance and intelligence tools should be effective if properly applied.
Buratai added that security agencies must improve their capacity and coordination, noting that criminal networks are evolving and increasingly using digital platforms to project their activities and taunt authorities.
He stressed that stronger intelligence work is necessary to close operational gaps and restore public confidence in the fight against insecurity.
