Catholic Bishop Stephen Mamza of Yola has expressed concern over the rise of churches in Nigeria driven solely by profit motives.

Speaking at St Augustine’s Catholic Church, Bekaji, Yola, during a Mass marking World Communications Sunday, Bishop Mamza criticized the trend of individuals entering ministry solely for financial gain, even aspiring to own private jets.

He recounted an encounter where a general overseer sought to sell his church due to financial struggles. Emphasizing the importance of human communication amid technological advancements, Bishop Mamza called for empathy in interactions.
