Emanuel Emegha, the highly-rated striker linked with a move to Chelsea, has confirmed he will represent the Netherlands at international level, passing up the opportunity to play for Nigeria or Togo.
The 22-year-old, who currently stars for Ligue 1 club Strasbourg, was eligible to represent the Netherlands—his country of birth—as well as Nigeria and Togo through his heritage.
Speaking in an interview on SUPERGAANDE’s YouTube channel, Emegha expressed confidence in his ability to stand out in the Dutch national setup.
“I’m fully confident I can make a difference for Oranje,” he said. “I bring something unique as a striker. It’s not about being better—everyone’s talented—I just have a different style, and I respect all of them.”
Emegha’s decision follows an impressive 2024/25 season, in which he notched 14 goals and 3 assists across 27 appearances in Ligue 1.
