Renewed Israel–Iran Strikes Shake Gulf, Trigger Global Oil Shock Fears

A fresh round of Israeli airstrikes on Tehran has heightened tensions across the Middle East, as Iran responded with threats targeting key energy infrastructure in the Gulf.

Explosions were reported in the Iranian capital on Monday, marking another escalation in the weeks-long confrontation with Israel.

The fallout has begun spreading beyond the immediate battlefield, with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates confirming they intercepted incoming missiles and drones linked to the widening conflict.

Energy markets are already feeling the strain. According to Fatih Birol of the International Energy Agency, dozens of oil and gas facilities across producing nations have sustained heavy damage since the crisis began, cutting deeply into global supply.

Tehran has intensified its response with a series of missile and drone operations aimed not only at Israeli targets but also at strategic sites across the Gulf and Western-linked facilities in the region.

Shipping routes have also come under pressure, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz—a critical passage responsible for a significant share of the world’s oil transport.

The disruption has pushed crude prices past the $100-per-barrel mark, raising alarms over a potential long-term economic fallout.

Donald Trump has issued a warning to Tehran, demanding that maritime traffic through the strait be fully restored within 48 hours or face further action targeting Iran’s energy sector.

Iranian officials have rejected the ultimatum. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that any escalation by Washington could prompt retaliatory strikes on critical infrastructure across the region.

Energy experts say the scale of disruption is already surpassing historic oil shocks, with millions of barrels per day removed from global supply.

Analysts caution that if the conflict persists, the economic consequences could ripple far beyond the Middle East, affecting markets and consumers worldwide.
