C.S. Lewis said human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.
This grants credence to the belief that throughout history, humans have searched for various things to bring them happiness and fulfillment, often apart from a connection with a higher power.
However the search has often been misguided and has led to suffering and disappointment.
Albeit, we have outlined some wonderful moments in history. Scroll down and feed your eyes.

According to Today in History, it was on this day in 1917, Father Edward J. Flanagan founded Boys Town as a farm village for wayward boys.

Sadly, on this day in 1939, HMS Duchess sank after a collision with HMS Barham off the coast of Scotland with the loss of 124 men.

On this day in 1963, Kenya declares independence from Great Britain.

Again, on this day in 1979, Coup d’état of December Twelfth occurs in South Korea.

Still on this day in 2021, Dutch Formula One racing driver Max Verstappen won the controversial 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, beating seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton to become the first Formula One World Champion to come from the Netherlands.
