Trump issues warning to Iran as nuclear tensions and ceasefire talks intensify
United States President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran, stating that “the clock is ticking” as diplomatic efforts over a fragile ceasefire continue to stall.
Posting on his Truth Social account, Trump said Iran must “get moving” or risk losing what remains of its negotiating position, adding that “TIME IS ESSENTIAL” amid rising tensions between both countries.
His comments follow earlier remarks describing the ceasefire situation as being on “massive life support” after rejecting Tehran’s latest proposals, which Washington reportedly described as unacceptable.
The United States has maintained demands that include Iran’s commitment not to enrich nuclear materials, the transfer of enriched uranium stockpiles to US control, and reopening strategic shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.
Regional tensions have escalated sharply since coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets earlier this year, prompting retaliatory actions across the Gulf region and raising fears of wider instability.
Although a temporary ceasefire was previously brokered through diplomatic mediation, negotiations have struggled to produce a lasting agreement, with both sides trading accusations over violations and stalled commitments.
The White House also confirmed that Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping recently discussed the situation, reportedly agreeing that Iran must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons and stressing the importance of maintaining open global shipping routes.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have warned that renewed conflict would carry severe economic consequences globally, including potential shocks to energy prices, financial markets, and international debt systems.
Iran’s foreign ministry also cautioned that escalation could have avoidable economic repercussions for the United States if diplomatic efforts collapse entirely.
Despite ongoing ceasefire arrangements, the situation remains highly fragile, with both sides continuing to issue strong warnings as diplomatic pressure intensifies.
