Women Held Their Husbands Tighter Around Me — Eucharia Anunobi Opens Up
Veteran Nollywood actress Eucharia Anunobi has revealed how a controversial role she played years ago led many people to wrongly judge her character in real life.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, the actress recounted the backlash she faced after starring in the popular film Glamour Girls 2 nearly three decades ago.
Anunobi explained that she portrayed Anita, a young student involved with a wealthy married man in the movie. According to her, the role sparked widespread reactions at the time, with some viewers struggling to separate the on-screen character from her real personality.
She said the situation led to her being labeled a “husband snatcher” and “Mammy Water,” while others even compared her to Hollywood star Sharon Stone because of the seductive nature of the role.
The actress recalled that the perception became so intense that women would sometimes hold their partners tightly whenever they saw her nearby, fearing she might attract their attention.
Despite the criticism, Anunobi maintained that she was simply carrying out her job as an actress by interpreting a script.
She also disclosed that she was paid extra for filming a memorable bathtub scene with fellow Nollywood actor Zack Orji in the movie.
