In a bid to counter the escalating scarcity and surging costs of cooking gas (Liquefied Petroleum Gas – LPG) in Nigeria, the federal government has implemented a bold move.
During an “Internal Stakeholders’ Workshop” in Abuja, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo, disclosed the suspension of LPG exportation. This strategic decision aims to bolster the availability of LPG within the domestic market, easing the financial strain on consumers.
Ekpo emphasized collaborative efforts with key stakeholders and major operators to tackle challenges and stabilize the cooking gas market. By halting the exportation of locally produced LPG, the government anticipates a surge in domestic supply, potentially leading to price reductions and providing relief to consumers.
