In a tragic incident, an unidentified man set fire to a mosque during ‘Subh’ prayers in Laraba Abasawa, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The arson attack resulted in the death of one worshipper and left at least 20 others seriously injured. The perpetrator locked the mosque, trapping approximately 40 worshippers inside before they were eventually rescued by bystanders.
According to AIG Umar Mamman Sanda, the suspect used a locally made bomb and has been apprehended, revealing that the attack stemmed from a dispute over inheritance. The injured have been taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment. Security forces are investigating the incident, and the state government is providing medical care to the victims.
