An incident unfolded in Kagoga village, Homa Bay County, Kenya, where a police officer named David Okebe allegedly killed his two children and his in-law’s son before taking his own life. The motive behind this horrific act appears to be a domestic dispute with his wife.
Okebe, who was attached to Marsabit Police Station, had disagreements with his wife, leading her to flee to her parents’ home with the children. He took days off from work, retrieved the children, and returned to his home, where the tragic events unfolded.
The police investigation revealed that Okebe poisoned the children before hanging himself. The bodies were discovered with foam exuding from their mouths, indicating possible poisoning. A suicide note left behind accused his wife and in-laws of causing the problems that led to his actions.
“If the disputes between the officer and his wife were resolved amicably, the deaths would not have occurred. Let our people seek guidance and counselling whenever they face difficult problems,” said Homa Bay County Police Commander Lawrence Koilem.
“Foam was exuding from the mouths of the children, but they did not have visible injuries,” Koilem added.
This tragic incident highlights the importance of addressing domestic disputes and seeking help when needed. As Koilem emphasized, “Let our people seek guidance and counselling whenever they face difficult problems.”
