Tension in Ogwashi-Uku as Regina Daniels’ Family Threatens to Return Bride Price by Force
Relatives of Nollywood star Regina Daniels in the Ogwashi-Uku community of Delta State have given her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, a 48-hour ultimatum to accept the refund of her bride price or face a traditional action that would officially end the marriage.
In an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the family, the group accused the senator of “disregarding local customs” and allegedly using his political influence to intimidate Regina’s relatives.
According to the family, Ogwashi-Uku tradition allows a woman to end her marriage if her bride price is returned. They claimed that several attempts had been made to refund the payment, but that Nwoko repeatedly rejected it.
The letter warned that if the senator refuses again, the family will place the money at Ikeleke Quarter — a public act that, under their custom, signifies the dissolution of the marriage.
They also condemned the reported arrest of some of Regina’s siblings, describing it as “an act of oppression,” and called for their immediate release.
The development has stirred widespread attention both within the Nollywood community and across social media, as many await Nwoko’s response to the family’s ultimatum.
