Every morning, mankind is reminded that while a new chapter beautifully unfolds, there are untold tales filled with hidden histories and surprising synchronicities.

It is on this backdrop that we will journey daily in retrospect to unearth fascinating stories that have shaped not just our human experience but registered their remarkable presence on the walls of timeless echoes.

On this day in 1817, in Rome, New York, construction on the Erie Canal began.

Still on this day in 1827, slavery was abolished in the State of New York.

In 1879 on this day, Anglo-Zulu War: The Zululand capital of Ulundi was captured by British troops and burned to the ground, ending the war and forcing King Cetshwayo to flee.

Again on this day in 1910, the Johnson–Jeffries riots occurred after African-American boxer Jack Johnson knocked out white boxer Jim Jeffries in the 15th round. Between 11 and 26 people are killed and hundreds more injured.

It was on this day in 1951 that William Shockley announced the invention of the junction transistor.

Again in 1976 on this day, Israeli commandos raided Entebbe airport in Uganda, rescuing all but four of the passengers and crew of an Air France jetliner seized by Palestinian terrorists.

Still on this day in 1982, three Iranian diplomats and a journalist were kidnapped in Lebanon by Phalange forces, and their fate remains unknown.

It was still on this day in 1994 that Rwandan genocide: Kigali, the Rwandan capital, was captured by the Rwandan Patriotic Front, ending the genocide in the city.

On this day in 2004, the cornerstone of the Freedom Tower was laid on the World Trade Center site in New York City.

Today in 2004, Greece beat Portugal in the UEFA Euro 2004 Final and became European Champion for first time in its history.

Again in 2005, the Deep Impact collider hit the comet Tempel 1.

It was on this day in 2009 that the Statue of Liberty’s crown reopened to the public after eight years of closure due to security concerns following the September 11 attacks.
