Trump Announces 5-Day Pause on Iran Strikes as Diplomatic Talks Gain Momentum
US President Donald Trump has ordered a temporary halt to planned military action against Iranian energy facilities, signaling a possible shift toward diplomacy amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump revealed that recent engagements between the United States and Iran have been “very good and productive,” raising hopes for a broader agreement to ease hostilities.
He noted that discussions over the past two days had focused on achieving a “complete and total resolution” of the long-running conflict between both nations.
Following the tone of the talks, Trump said he had directed the military to suspend any immediate plans to strike Iran’s power and energy infrastructure for an initial period of five days.
The pause, however, remains conditional. According to the US president, further decisions will depend on how negotiations progress in the coming days, with additional meetings expected throughout the week.
The development comes after weeks of heightened tensions, with Washington previously considering targeted attacks on key Iranian facilities as part of its response to escalating regional threats.
The latest move suggests a cautious opening for dialogue, even as both sides remain locked in a fragile standoff.
