VeryDarkMan Apologises After Mid-Flight Disruption Causes Delay
Social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has issued a public apology following his in-flight altercation with comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, widely known as Mr Jollof, which led to delays on a United Nigeria Airlines flight.
The confrontation occurred on a flight from Asaba to Lagos, where passengers filmed both men exchanging harsh words and engaging in a physical struggle before others intervened.
The incident quickly circulated online, drawing criticism from Nigerians who described the behaviour as reckless and disruptive.
In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, VeryDarkMan acknowledged his role in the incident and took responsibility for the inconvenience suffered by passengers.
“What happened yesterday was not supposed to happen, and I will take full responsibility for it,” he said.
“A lot of people on that flight had important things to do. Some may have had medical emergencies, business commitments or other urgent matters. My actions caused a delay, and I sincerely apologise.”
He described his conduct as “irresponsible,” adding that while some observers treated the incident as social-media entertainment, he regretted being involved in such behaviour.
VeryDarkMan assured the public that he would avoid similar confrontations in the future, especially in shared and sensitive spaces such as airports and aircraft.
Public spats between high-profile figures, especially those livestreamed or captured on mobile devices, have become increasingly common in Nigeria’s influencer and entertainment circles.
This latest clash between VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof is one of several recent incidents involving celebrities drawing attention for behaviour in public spaces.
United Nigeria Airlines has not released an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report, but earlier cases of onboard disturbances have typically led to questioning by airport security or aviation authorities.
